Unfortunately, The United Kingdom, forming the British Empire, used its force to colonize many different areas of the world, and that’s why English is spoken in different countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean… Independence was won back mainly in the 20th century, but still the power of the language and the culture which were imposed remain. There are then many different kinds of English around the world, with their own accent, some variations in grammar or vocabulary… and there are people who fight to make the world know how they’ve got the right to be different, and as valuable as the rest of the world.
